Located in Cheraw’s historic black business district, the Southern African American Heritage Center is dedicated to preserving the contributions of African Americans in Chesterfield County. Visitors can explore documents and artifacts from the 1800s to the mid-1900s, including items related to Dizzy Gillespie, Coulter Memorial Academy, and civil rights history, while also enjoying walking tours of African American landmarks in downtown Cheraw.

The Mt. Croghan Historic Museum, located in an early 1900s building, offers a unique glimpse into the town’s past, showcasing a variety of artifacts and exhibits. This building, believed to have housed various businesses over the years, now serves as a repository of local history, featuring photographs, and memorabilia from the area. 

The McLeod Farms Antique Museum captivates has an impressive collection of over 20 antique cars, including a 1920 McLaughlin and a 1930 Lincoln. Alongside these classic vehicles, the museum showcases vintage tractors and farming equipment, offering a window into the evolution of agriculture and transportation. This unique museum provides a rich historical experience for all. 

The Cheraw Lyceum, built around 1820 as a chancery court, later became a center for learning and community activities. It has served various roles, including housing Cheraw’s first telegraph and serving as a military headquarters. Now a free museum, it offers exhibits that showcase Cheraw’s rich history.

The McBee Railroad Museum offers a glimpse into the town’s rich railroading history. Housed in a restored depot, the museum showcases a variety of artifacts and exhibits that highlight the pivotal role of the railroad in the area’s development. Visitors can explore the displays and learn about the stories of the people and trains that shaped McBee’s past.

River Bottom Dairy is a family-owned dairy farm that specializes in producing high-quality milk and artisanal dairy products. Fresh meats are also available.  The farm frequently hosts special events and a food-truck rotation on site.  River Bottom Dairy is the perfect place for a sweet treat to spend time with others.

Cascade Farms is the perfect destination for tourists seeking a unique and picturesque experience. Known for its vibrant “you-pick” flower fields, visitors can stroll through rows of colorful blooms and handpick their own bouquet to take home. The farm’s setting and charming atmosphere make it a perfect spot for a relaxing day out.

McLeod Farms is an agritourism destination known for its delicious, homegrown produce and family-friendly activities. Visitors can enjoy picking their own strawberries and pumpkins, while the farm’s famous peaches are a must-try for anyone passing through. Throughout the year, McLeod Farms hosts seasonal events, including a popular corn maze, offering fun and entertainment for all ages.

This park celebrates the legacy of the legendary jazz trumpeter who was born in Cheraw. His homeplace offers a glimpse into the early life of this influential musician and features eclectic stainless steel benches and modern sculpture.  Guests can follow the actual notes to “Salt Peanuts” on the steel fence.  The park captures Dizzy’s vibrant spirit and contributions to music making it a must-visit for jazz enthusiasts and history buffs alike.
